Use NjectAI in Perplexity: research prompts with your Search profile
NjectAI (also called Nject) works inside Perplexity on perplexity.ai and labs.perplexity.ai. It adds Improve your prompt and Context Inject to the question box, suggests text with Autocomplete and saves your questions and Perplexity's answers to your NjectAI memory. A Search profile tells it your research type, answer format, trusted sources and depth.
What does NjectAI do in Perplexity?
In Perplexity, NjectAI adds a small pill to the question box once you type and Perplexity's send button is showing. Improve your prompt turns a rough question into a fuller, clearer prompt, and Context Inject adds your saved context to the question you send. Autocomplete offers the rest of your question in grey as you type, and the Tab key accepts it.
When you are signed in, a thread this browser has not seen brings the profile bar, which asks "Which profile you are using this time?". While you are signed in and Nject is switched on, your questions and Perplexity's finished answers are saved to your NjectAI memory, the same memory you use in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok. Which Perplexity pages does NjectAI run on?
NjectAI runs on perplexity.ai, www.perplexity.ai and labs.perplexity.ai: on the home page where you ask a new question, and in every thread. It stays off in four places: Spaces, your Library, and the artifacts and connectors pages under perplexity.ai/computer. On those pages NjectAI adds nothing at all, so you see no header button, no pill and no suggestions, and nothing there is saved.

Why use a Search profile in Perplexity?
A Search profile is the NjectAI profile kind made for research, which suits Perplexity well. Its interview asks what kind of research you do, how answers should come back, which sources you trust most and how deep answers should go. When you use Context Inject, those answers travel with your question under clear labels, so Perplexity reads your preferred format, sources and depth along with what you asked. Improve your prompt uses the same answers when it rewrites a question.
You can use any of your profiles in Perplexity, and a Text profile about your work fits questions about your own business. The Search interview asks no questions about links or files, and you can add files to the profile later in the dashboard (PDF, DOCX and CSV, up to 8 MB each). How do I add my research context to Perplexity?
Create a Search profile once, then add it to any Perplexity question with Context Inject. Click the syringe in the pill, or Inject in the profile bar, and NjectAI shows "Context added. Sends with your next message." Your question box does not change while you write. When you send, NjectAI adds your saved context after your question, with a blank line between them, so Perplexity reads both and the context shows in the thread.
NjectAI uses the first 1,000 characters of your question to pick the saved facts that fit it. Click the syringe again to take the context back ("Context cleared."), and moving to another thread before you send drops it. More in Context Inject.
- Create a profile and choose Search when the interview asks "What will this profile create?". Answer its four questions and, if you like, give the profile a name.
- Open Perplexity and start a new thread. In the bar that asks "Which profile you are using this time?", pick your Search profile and click Inject. If the bar has gone, type your question first and click Context Inject in the pill.
- Type your question.
- Send it. Your research context goes out after your question.
Does NjectAI save my Perplexity threads?
Yes. While you are signed in and Nject is switched on, NjectAI saves each question you send in Perplexity and each answer Perplexity finishes while the page is open. Answers from Perplexity are saved with their thread and their place in it, without a model name. Questions and answers that were already on the screen from before are left alone.
Everything goes to the personal memory of your NjectAI account, the one NjectAI draws on whichever profile you pick. Saving runs with or without Nject Pro, and it has no switch of its own.
