> You install NjectAI from the Chrome Web Store, where the extension is listed as Nject. Add it to Chrome, pin it to the toolbar, then click Get Started to create an account or Login to sign in. The extension has no login form of its own: it picks up your session from the NjectAI web app.

## How do I install NjectAI in Chrome?

You install NjectAI from its Chrome Web Store listing, where the extension is called Nject. Adding it takes a click and a confirmation, and NjectAI then opens its sign-up page in a new tab. If you already have an account, click **Sign in** on that page instead.

:::steps
1. Open the [Nject listing in the Chrome Web Store](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/ojddfcbggidlmbjnlgdgiikhejhlmmeh).
2. Click **Add to Chrome**, then **Add extension** in the box Chrome shows.
3. Click the puzzle-piece Extensions icon in Chrome's toolbar and pin **Nject**, so its icon stays in view.
4. Reload any ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Google, Perplexity, Grok or X tab that was open before you installed it.
:::

## Can I use NjectAI in Edge, Brave or another Chromium browser?

NjectAI is a Chrome extension, published on the Chrome Web Store, and these docs describe it in Chrome. They do not cover Edge, Brave or other Chromium browsers.

## How do I sign in to the extension?

The NjectAI extension has no login form. You sign in on the NjectAI web app, and the extension picks up your session from that page, so one sign-in covers both.

:::steps
1. Click the Nject icon in Chrome's toolbar, or the Nject button in the header of a supported AI tool.
2. Click **Get Started** to create an account, or **Login**, under "Already have an account?", to sign in. Each opens the NjectAI web app in a new tab.
3. Create your account or sign in there, with your email and password or with **Continue with Google**.
4. Go back to your AI tool. The toolbar menu now shows your name.
:::

If you signed in from the extension and already have a profile, the web app greets you with "Welcome back". An account with no profile goes on to set up its first one: see the [quick start](https://nject.ai/docs/quick-start).

Your session renews by itself, so you stay signed in. **Logout** in the toolbar menu, in the Nject button's menu or in the web app signs you out of the extension and the web app together.

## How do I change my name, password or profile picture?

You change your account details in the **Account Settings** tab of the NjectAI [dashboard](https://nject.ai/dashboard?tab=account-settings). It holds your profile picture, your **First name** and **Last name**, your email and your password. A new picture is saved as soon as you pick it. For names and the password, click **Save changes**.

| What | How to change it |
| --- | --- |
| Profile picture | Click the picture and choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image of up to 5 MB |
| First name, Last name | Type the new name, up to 100 characters each |
| Email | Shown for reference only: the dashboard cannot change it |
| Password | Under **Change Password**, fill in **Current password**, **New password** and **Confirm new password** |

A new password needs at least 8 characters, with an uppercase letter, a number and a symbol. If you signed up with Google, the tab shows **Set a Password** instead: click **Set a password**, and NjectAI emails you a code first, so you can also sign in with your email.

## What if I forget my password?

Reset it from the sign-in page. NjectAI emails you a 6-digit code, and the code lets you set a new password.

:::steps
1. On the [sign-in page](https://nject.ai/sign-in), click **Forgot password?**.
2. On "Reset your password", enter your **Email Address** and click **Send reset code**.
3. On **Verify your identity**, enter the 6-digit code from your email and click **Verify code**.
4. On "Set new password", fill in **New password** and **Confirm password**, then click **Update password**.
:::

## What is in the NjectAI toolbar menu?

Clicking the Nject icon in Chrome's toolbar opens a small menu. Signed in, it shows your account, two switches and two buttons. Signed out, it offers Get Started and Login.

| Item | Shown when | What it does |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Your name and avatar | Signed in | Shows which account is signed in |
| **Nject** switch | Signed in | Turns NjectAI on or off in every tab. It reads "Extension currently active" or "Extension temporarily disabled" |
| **Autocomplete** switch | Signed in | Turns suggestions on or off: "Suggestions while you type" or "Suggestions are off". Without Nject Pro it is locked, reads "Available with Nject Pro" and shows **Upgrade to Pro** |
| **Dashboard** | Signed in | Opens your NjectAI dashboard |
| **Logout** | Signed in | Signs you out of the extension and the web app |
| **Get Started** | Signed out | Opens the sign-up page |
| **Login** | Signed out | Opens the sign-in page |

:::note
The toolbar menu has no profile picker. To choose a profile, click the Nject button in the AI tool's header and open **Context Profiles**, or use the profile bar in a new chat. See [Choose a profile](https://nject.ai/docs/choose-a-profile).
:::

## How do I turn NjectAI off?

To turn NjectAI off, open the toolbar menu and switch **Nject** off. NjectAI removes its pill, its button and its bars from every open tab and stops saving your chats, and the menu reads "Extension temporarily disabled". Switch it on again to bring everything back.

To turn off only the suggestions, switch **Autocomplete** off instead, and the rest keeps working. To remove NjectAI from Chrome, open chrome://extensions and click **Remove** on Nject. Removing the extension leaves your account and your profiles as they are: you delete those in the dashboard, as [Privacy and data](https://nject.ai/docs/privacy-and-data) explains.

## What permissions does NjectAI ask for?

The NjectAI extension asks Chrome for three permissions, activeTab, storage and scripting, and it has host access only to NjectAI's own servers and web app. Its scripts load only on the supported AI sites and on the NjectAI web app. It asks for no access to your tabs, your browsing history or your cookies, and it has no keyboard shortcut of its own.

| Permission | What it lets the extension do |
| --- | --- |
| activeTab | Work with the tab you are on, and only when you click the extension's toolbar button |
| storage | Keep your sign-in, your **Nject** and **Autocomplete** switches and your chosen profile in the browser |
| scripting | Pick up your session from the NjectAI sign-in page once you have signed in there |

On Google, NjectAI works in AI Mode only, and on X only on the Grok page. For the security testing behind the extension, read [Is NjectAI safe?](https://nject.ai/docs/security).

## What happens when NjectAI updates?

Chrome updates its extensions by itself. When NjectAI updates while an AI tab is open, NjectAI leaves that tab and shows "Nject was updated - reload this tab to keep using it" for 12 seconds. Reload the tab and the pill is back. Tabs you open after the update work straight away.
